He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Clayton Brunson, Sr.; his mother, Orba Beatrice; and his half siblings, Cecil Lathan, Mae Marcott, Billy Lathan, and Elizabeth Wright.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Tanner, and his daughters, Connie Harper (Larry), Deanna Mayfield (Danny), and Karen Allen (Jason). He was blessed to have eight grandchildren who survive him, Hannah Johnson (Brandon), Andrew Harper, Matthew Harper, Anne-Marie Allen, Caroline Allen, William Allen, Alden Allen, & Elizabeth Allen. In 2022, he became a great-grandfather to Madelyn Johnson, daughter to Hannah and Brandon. He is also survived by his half-sister, Beatrice Buswell of Springhill, Florida, and his brother, John Brunson of Chunchula, Alabama.
Clayton came to faith in Christ as young man and devoted his life to serving the Lord, his church, and his family. In the local church, Clayton served as a deacon and a leading layman for decades, always ready to meet any and every need. Vocationally, Clayton served at Kimberly Clark Paper Company in the maintenance department for 33 years. His earnestness and work ethic were evident to all who knew him.
Yet in this life, nothing meant more to Clayton than his family, whom he loved with all his heart and sacrificed for in every way.
Above all, Clayton’s life was marked by faithfulness—faithfulness to the Lord, to the church, to his wife and family, to everywhere he worked, and to all he served. We thank God for his life of faithfulness and rejoice that Clayton is now with his Savior.
