Helen is survived by one daughter, Louann Morgan Barber, Mobile, AL. two granddaughters: Lauren Ashley Barber; Morgan Leigh Risner (Sean) Two great granddaughters; Haley Grace Garrick and Mollie Anne Sutherlin. All of Mobile AL. One brother, William Barna Pope,Jr., The Woodlands, TX and many nieces and nephews
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Sam Morgan Sr; her daughter Anita Morgan; her son Sam Morgan Jr; her parents Nonie Law Pope and William Barna Pope Sr. Brothers; George Harman Pope, Charles Jennings Pope, and sisters Julia Pope Goodwin, Susan Pope Mansfield and Jeane Pope Massey.
Helen and Sam were married November 27, 1946. Their life began when they moved to Mobile in 1957 from Montgomery, AL. Helen was a homemaker. She took great pride in her yard work. She was known to take flowers from her yard to friends who were ill or those she would visit. Helen was an excellent cook and mastered the recipes Sam would bring home for her to try.
She stayed actively involved in the church nursery, daycare and Women’s Missions at Spring Hill Baptist Church where she was a longtime member. She was the First Aid lady at Azalea Road Middle School and Davidson High School.
She possessed a quick wit, which has been passed down to her daughter and grandchildren. Laughter is truly good for our souls. Helen was a wonderful Wife, Mother and Nana. She freely gave up her time to help others. She was a faithful servant to her Lord and family.
