Senator Harry Edward “Hap” Myers, Jr. - a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL died Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at his residence. Senator Myers attended Mary B. Austin Elementary School, Barton Academy, and was a 1957 graduate of Murphy High School. He attended Auburn University where he received a B.A. Degree in Business Administration and a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering in 1961. He served as President and CEO of J. B. Converse Company/BCM Engineers for twenty years, served as Chairman of the Mobile Chamber of Commerce, and on the Board of Regions Bank. Senator Myers served three terms in the Alabama State Senate representing District 34 and was a member of the Mobile Area Water and Sewer Board. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and served as Chairman of the Board at St. Paul’s Episcopal School. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Edward Myers, Sr. and Margaret Cookson Myers; and one brother, Robert G. Myers. He is survived by the former Toni Jackson Myers whom he married in 1961 and is also survived by three children, Harry Edward (Daena) Myers, III, Martha Myers (Brett) Chambless, and Samford Turner (Brennan) Myers; one brother, Dr. Thomas C. (Becky) Myers; one sister-in-law, Joan Fonde Myers; nine grandchildren, Bonnie, Jessica, Lauren, Harry, Bobby, Annie, Turner, Perry, and Lily; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. The family will receive friends from 9 A.M. until 10 A.M. on Friday, August 5, 2011 at the Parish Hall of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. A memorial service will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Chapel or the Old Spring Hill Cemetery.
