Hamlin “Ham” Henderson Griffin, Jr., 86, passed away May 22, 2022 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was a native Mobilian and graduated from Murphy High School, class of 1953. He played football for Murphy and had many fond memories of his time there. Vocationally, he was a salesman at heart and by trade. He was originally a faithful member of First Christian Church in Mobile, and more recently, a faithful member of Fulton Road Baptist Church and Woodridge Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama.
Ham was preceded in death by his parents, Hamlin H. Griffin, Sr. and Irma Freeland Griffin, along with his daughter, Cheryl Griffin Harper, and his sister, Dolores Griffin Hawkins.
Ham is survived by his wife of 43 years, Gail Hullett Griffin, his son Robert H. (Tracie) Griffin, daughter Melodie (Donnie) Garner, son Kevin (Janiece) Castleberry, sister-in-law, Elizabeth O'Donnell, and grandchildren: Lindsay (Stephen) Harper Hughes, Megan (Brian) Harper Simmons, Dr. Lauren Griffin Brannan, Morgan (Zach) Griffin Saux, Hannah N. Griffin, Brian (Lyndy) P. Kane, Radd A. Castleberry, Joel T. Castleberry, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Memorial service information to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society or the Woodridge Baptist Church Building Fund are encouraged.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Woodridge Baptist Church, 2700 Schillinger Rd S, Mobile, Alabama 36695. Visitation will be at 10:00am with service following at 11:00am.
