Ernestine Johnson passed away peacefully July 1, 2020 at home. Formerly a longtime resident of Flomaton, AL, she had been in her sister Gail's care since 1991. Ernestine was born April 22, 1932, the first born of James Wesley and Susan Underwood Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Edwin F. Johnson and niece Pamela Joette Jackson.
Ernestine is survived by her brother, James Wesley Johnson, Jr. (Pearl) and sisters; Eleanor Johnson Jackson, Mildred Johnson Lunsford and Gail Johnson Callahan. She is also survived by 18 nieces and nephews and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Ernestine loved visiting with family and friends and always had big kisses for the little ones. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, watching movies and tv and cat collectibles.
The family would like to thank St. Joseph Hospice, specifically Denise Smith, Bob Barr, Sam Longmire, Sumner Lee and Matt Brown for their care and compassion.
The funeral service will be held at Pleasant Home Holiness Church, Flomaton, Al with interment following.
Serving as pallbearers will be nephews Stephen Callahan, Richard Jackson, Adam Johnson, nephews-in-law, Frank Nitriansky, Clint Pagan and Steve Creamer. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryeton and Nolan Nitransky.
