Erin Elizabeth Grafton, 85, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, June 15, 2014. She passed away at home, surrounded by friends and family. Funeral services will be held at the Radney Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 20 with Dr. Fred Wolfe, a long-time friend, officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and the service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Indian Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Laurel, Mississippi.
Miss Erin was born in Jones County, Mississippi, and lived in Laurel before moving to Mobile, Alabama. She was a faithful long-time member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir for many years. Erin was a dedicated supporter of faith-based initiatives. She was an assistant manager with AT&T and retired after many years of service. Following retirement, Erin enjoyed fishing and working in her yard. She also traveled to the Holy Lands and to Germany to visit one of her nieces. She loved children and enjoyed the friendship of Mrs. Stone’s first grade class from Faith Academy. She always had gifts on hand for visiting children.
Erin was preceded in death by her parents, John Tate Grafton, Sr. and Corrie Aline Balch Grafton; brothers and sisters-in-law: John Tate Grafton, Jr. and Lorene Moseley Grafton, Daniel Frank Grafton and Jimmie Gandy Grafton, Thomas Webber Grafton and Hazel Graves Grafton, Lauren E. Grafton, Sr. and Martha Moffett Grafton; infant brother Jack R. Grafton; and long-time best friend Etta Jo Williams. She is survived by her brother and sister-in law Joe C. and Shirley Odom Grafton of Brandon; sister-in-law Virginia Grafton of Laurel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Larry Grafton, Dan Grafton, Clinton Grafton, John Grafton, III, James Walters, and Taylor Whiddon. Arrangements under the direction of Radney Funeral Home-Mobile, Mobile, AL.
