Daphne B. Larsen, age 97, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 with her family by her side. Daphne, or "Daph", as she was known by so many, was born March 19, 1926 in west Citronelle, AL to Ethel and Thomas Artie Blankinchip. She was raised and educated in Citronelle, AL. Daph began her career in the business field when she was employed by Southern Bell Telephone & Telegraph, where she worked for 32 years. She met Frank E. Larsen and they were married in 1948. They have enjoyed a wonderful 75 year marriage. Daph became a Christian at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Leakesville, MS, where she attended until she left home for her career. She became a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church in 1949, and remained there until her death. Daph was such a loving and caring person, who enjoyed helping others. She was a very talented and well-known China painter, which she began in 1980 and continued up until two weeks prior to her illness and death. Daph a member of Port City Craftsmen Inc., Group for 41 of its 50 years of existence. She is survived by her husband, Frank E. Larsen, and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She will always be missed by so many who knew her.
Visitation for Daph will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Spring Hill Baptist Church in Mobile, with a funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Daph's name to Spring Hill Baptist Church Foundation.
