Clifton E. King, born July 23, 1922 in Bogalusa, LA to J. D. & Mattie King, and a resident of Mobile since 1995, was welcomed to Heaven by his wife of 55 years, Geraldine Lane King, his parents and many other family & friends on Thursday, October 13, 201l. He was 89.
Celebrating his life are his son, Gerald (Velda) King, daughter, Kathy Johnson; grandchildren, Alan (Olga) Johnson, Kimberly (Russell) Whitehurst; Gabrielle (Matt) Woods; Katie (Zach) Snow; Lisa King Adams; great-grandchildren: Joshua King Johnson; Audriana, Victor, Jacob & Matthew Johnson; Lucas Snow; Jackson Woods; Harrison Lincecum, Chandler Byers & Sarah Adams; Crystal (Billy) Mayfield & daughter Madeline.
Clif attended LSU on a boxing scholarship, leaving after two years to serve in the Army Air Corps. In 1943 he married his beloved Gerry and settled in Bogalusa where he was employed by the local paper mill. In 1954 he went to work for the United Paperworkers International Union retiring in 1988 as a Regional Vice President. Clif was loved & enjoyed by countless people because he loved life, people and especially Jesus Christ. He sends this message to all: "If Jesus Christ isn't your personal Lord & Savior invite Him into your life. You'll be glad you did!"
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Woodridge Baptist Church, Diabetes Foundation, American Kidney Foundation or Mercy Medical.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 17, 2011 at Woodridge Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Monday at the church. Graveside services and interment will be held at 4 P.M. on Monday in Ponemah Cemetery, Bogalusa, LA.
