Charles "Chuck" Ludwig Nelson V was born July 12, 1962, in Mobile, Alabama and passed on August 26, 2022 at Providence Hospital after a short illness. Chuck was well known by hunters in this area from his work at Mike Ward’s Liberty Safe, Quint’s Hardware and Sporting Goods, McCoy Outdoors, and Stone Arms. He was known as the best for “sighting in” a rifle in preparation for hunting season. He enjoyed hunting, fishing with friends, and family. Chuck always enjoyed watching Alabama Crimson Tide football.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hope Denise Nelson; grandparents, Charles L. Nelson III, Cora Carnley Wray, Edwin L. Wray, Con Kelly and Vaudie Jewell Manley. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Ross Fitzgerald and by close friend, Klein Bridges.
He is survived by his son, Eric Nelson (Sabrenia); grandson, Devrim Nelson; parents, Bobbie Fitzgerald, Charles L. Nelson IV (Pamela); one sister, Michelle Nelson (Todd Buss) of Dallas, Texas; three brothers: Carl Clark of Needham, Alabama, Michael Nelson, Tony Nelson (Charlene); along with extended relatives and many wonderful friends.
A Catholic funeral service will be celebrated with father David Tokarz of Our Savior Church on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 PM at Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin Street, followed by the service in the chapel.
Interment will follow the service at Pine Crest Cemetery West on Snow Road.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Stone, Doug Harbin, Paul Havard, Billy Singleton, Randy Doggett and Buster Hardy. Honorary pallbearer is Jordan Bridges.
