Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Pine Crest Cemetery, Mobile, Alabama.
The family will be accepting guests for visitation Saturday, June 1, 2019, from 1:00 PM until time of service at 2:00 PM.
Billy Gene Murphy was born July 28, 1931, in Florala, Alabama, to the late Hamp and Stella Dean Murphy. He passed May 28, 2019 in Mobile, Alabama. Billy served this grateful Nation by enlisting in the United States Navy (USS Midway). He thoroughly enjoyed gardening, the upkeep of his person residence and rental properties alike. Billy spent twenty-eight years as an electrician with Alabama State Docks. He loved his dogs, children and grandchildren. Billy lettered in multiple sports at UMS preparatory (local high). Billy said the key to a long life was eating bacon and working hard every day; Looks like he was correct.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one son; John Wesley Murphy, two wives: Betty and Velma Murphy and one brother; John Murphy.
Left to cherish Billy’s memories will be his daughter; Shelly Nichols (Nick), numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends.
