An avid golfer with a strong laugh, he graduated from Murphy High School in 1955 where he excelled in multiple sports and was an All-State football player. Ben was an Alabama Nationwide insurance agent for over 50 years and also enjoyed raising cattle.
Ben is preceded in death by his wife Elinor, parents Brasher and Loette Castleberry.
Survivors include his children Angela (William) Whatley of Spanish Fort, AL. and Ben (Cheryl) Castleberry, Jr. of Tuscaloosa, AL. Grandchildren; Kellyn Strickland and Trent Strickland. Bennett (Brandy) Castleberry and John Cole (Brittany) Castleberry. Great-grandchildren; Brasher, Annalynn, John Nelon, Merynn, and Austin. Stepdaughters; Pam (Jim) Nold and Cheryl (Donna) Collicott, step-grandchildren Morgan Howell, and Taylor Broderick.
A Visitation for Ben will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2020, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Radney Funeral Home-Mobile, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, AL 36606.
Following the Visitation will be a Graveside Service from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Mobile Memorial Gardens, 6100 Three Notch Rd, Mobile, AL 36619.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bennett Castleberry, III, John Cole Castleberry, Trent Strickland, William Whatley, Greg Crowe, and Neil McMillan.
