Albert Jackson Meacham

Mr. Albert J. Meacham, born in Repton, Al on February 23, 1923, passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 18, 2014. He is preceded in death by his wife, Martha P. Meacham, brothers, John William Meacham (Mildred) and Charles Edward Meacham (Natti) and sister, Dorothy Shackelford (Bud). Mr. Meacham was a graduate of University of Alabama, and earned his MBA from the University of South Alabama while working full time at Roberts Brothers. He worked at Roberts Brothers, Inc. from 1959 until 1992. He loved his career and loved the Roberts family. Mr. Meacham was Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Roberts Brothers, Inc. He served as President of Alabama Association of Realtors in 1987, President of Mobile Area Association of Realtors in 1978, was named Realtor of the Year in 1980. He was very active at the Spring Hill Avenue United Methodist Church and served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He served his country honorably in the United States Army in the Philippines during WWII and continued his military service in the Army Reserves retiring at the rank of Major. Mr. Meacham is survived by his sons, William Albert Meacham and John Edward Meacham (Alison). He also leaves to cherish his memory, his sister, Eleanor Dailey and grandchildren, Maggie, Edward and Caroline Meacham. Private graveside services will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens on Friday, June 20, 2014. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends in the chapel following the service.
