Bonnie Jean Meyer, age 73, of Dana Point, CA passed away July 12, 2024 in Cambridge Massachusetts due to interstitial lung disease. Born February 17, 1951, in Illinois, Bonnie was the second of three children of John Dilitkanich (1922-2000) and Dorris Mae (Bertenshaw) Dilitkanich (1924-2000). Leaving Illinois in her late 20s, Bonnie moved around the country frequently with her then husband, Father of her children, and childhood boyfriend, Christian James Meyer. Bonnie earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing and was licensed as a Registered Nurse for decades working with a wide variety of patients. Bonnie welcomed her only son, Christian David Meyer, in New York on July 26, 1981 and her only daughter, Cheryl Eileen Meyer, in Florida on January 1, 1985. In the early 1990s, Bonnie and her family settled in Ventura County in Southern California, where she would reside for many years. Later in life, Bonnie would divorce, but reconnect with an old friend, Robert Fletcher Starbuck. The rest is history. For the last six and a half years of her life, Bonnie and Bob would travel, party, explore, and enjoy all the fruits of their labor. Spending time between Dana Point, CA, Cambridge, MA, and Nantucket, MA, Bonnie and Bob soaked up all the sun rays they could, while enjoying all the local food and wine. Bonnie is survived by her children, Chris and Cheryl, her two brothers, Kenneth “Ken” and John “Dil” Dilitkanich, and significant other, Robert “Bob” Starbuck. Bonnie’s main focus in life was being a great mother, a great nurse, a great partner, having no regrets, exploring the world, reading all she could, and ultimately connecting with her faith.
A graveside service for Bonnie will be held Tuesday, July 30, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at El Toro Memorial Park, 25751 Trabuco Rd, Lake Forest, CA 92630.
