Sanjuana Aurora Salinas de Estrada, was born June 27, 1950, in Venecia, Tamps. Mexico to Ernesto Salinas Morales (departed) and Maria Elida Hernandez Cantu (departed). She learned her love language, which was Acts of Service, from her grandmother Nieves Cantu de Hernandez (departed) who raised her and imparted many of the skills and virtues she exercised throughout her lifetime. She passed away unexpectedly on December 30th, 2024, in Austin, Texas, at St. David’s hospital.
Juany was a generous and kind soul who touched the lives of many with her warmth and compassion. Her loving spirit left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
She is preceded by her loving husband of 43 years Teodoro Estrada Robles (10/23/1947 - 08/28/2015). She is survived by her beloved daughter, Elida Estrada-Moreno, her son-in-law Carlos Moreno along with two sisters, many nieces, nephews and relatives who will cherish her memory.
Juany's life was defined by her kindness, resilience and relentless love for family. She shared her time between McAllen and Austin, Texas, always with her beloved dogs by her side. She lived life fully, and during her younger years dedicated much of her time to ensuring her loved ones were well. Whether she was was tending to someone while ill, counseling those in need of advice or supporting and uplifting the fallen, she was always there. She often helped by cooking, sewing or crafting gifts for those she loved. She was a talented seamstress, known for her exquisite sewing and embroidery work, creating cherished pieces for her family over the decades. Some of these pieces will undoubtedly become family heirloom-looms as she adorned many quinciañera and wedding garments over the years. Alongside her talent with needle and thread, she also enjoyed designing jewelry pieces with semi-precious stones. Secret to many, she was also a beautiful writer, turning her pain and heartache into heartfelt poetry. She had a deep love for music and singing as well, her home often filled with traditional music and songs of the past.
Juany always saw the best in people as forgiveness and grace were ideals strived to live by every day. She had the rare gift of turning darkness into light, sorrow into hope and though she rarely prioritized her own struggles, she did her best to lift up those in need.
Words cannot express how deeply she will be missed. Her passing has left an unfillable void in many people's lives, and the world feels desolate without the light of her smile. Sanjuanita's life serves as a reminder that kindness and compassion can make a lasting difference and we hope to honor her memory by living our lives well and continuing her tradition of service to others. May we all strive to be gracious, kind and resilient following the example she so beautifully set.
