My grandma gave me many gifts and when I think of her I think of unconditional love and firey strength. She would take me on walks and always let me watch whatever show I wanted even if she wanted to watch hers. She could make you feel loved with just with a hug or touch of her hand. I think of her when I hear chatty birds, especially parakeets. Her greatest gift to me was my Dad, who embodies so much of what she passed on. I see her in him. And for that I’m grateful. 

My mom was born in 1931 , a time of great presence and strong women . She was my mother and father and  and was made of fire and steel . She demonstrated great perseverance in knowing there was no shame in working two jobs as long as there was food on the table to feed us . I remember standing in line to get milk, cheese and beans in front of a semi and we had to get up early  before the line grew long. Times were hard but we were all happy. I did not appreciate her love for us till I found my true love and had children. My mother never remarried but I often found myself wondering how lonely it must be to not have the support of a spouse in times when we had very little to eat or when our home was broken into and every thing was stolen. My mother often found it challenging in bringing up four children, some of us often made life more difficult as we matured but in the end My mother forgave. My mother did always tell me" in what other country do you get free education"- make the most of your education and be successful, for here (America) we can do anything . She also had had great morals and and showed me we can succeed if we work hard and yes sometimes we do have to work harder to find our dream but in following her example, I did just that. Mom, you were always loved and all your grandchildren loved you very much. I know how proud you were of all of us and appreciate all your sacrifice and hard work in helping become your legacy .
