Dear Lloyd, Gae, Paige, Denny, and all of Mike's family.  I would like to start by letting you all know my heart breaks for all of you during this difficult time. 

I had the pleasure of working with Mike years ago, and will  always remember his infectious smile, and kind heart.  Mike would come into the office at the end of each work day to chat for a bit , and before leaving he would always ask if there was anything else he could help with (even though he was off the clock).

A memory I will always remember of Mike... 

I  was on the Mission/Abbotsford Highway stopped  at a red  light at Clayburn Road,  and when it turned green my car died. I was panicking as I was holding up traffic and had kids in the car. It was a hot summer day to make things a little more stressful. 

I had called the office to get someone to come a rescue us, and everyone was either gone home, or busy.  I had called a tow truck and was going to be a long wait. I. called the office back, and Mike happened to be in the office at this time and overheard our conversation.  Although Mike was off work, tired and hot  he still offered to drive to Abbotsford to help us.  

Mike showed  up right away and got my car going very quickly.  I wanted to pay him, but he refused and told me to get the kids an ice cream instead.  This was something I will always be grateful for.   I will remember Mike for all the kind gestures he did for others,  and his ability to make people smile and laugh.  

I hope it gives you all a little comfort during this difficult time knowing Mike  made a positive impact on many people,.

Lloyd, we are so very sorry to hear of your son's untimely passing.  So young, and no parent should ever have to experience that.  We just want to wish our sincerest condolences to you and your family and your son's family.  I can't imagine what you must all be going through.  My heart breaks for you all.

May you find peace in all the happy memories you have of Michael.

My memory of Mike is of a quiet, thoughtful young man. We were 12 and playing lacrosse together.  He was a gentleman amongst a lot of freewheeling testosterone on that team.  I remember his  mom and particularly his dad being ever present during games and practices. They were a team. I am so sorry for your loss. Love and wishes from the Myall family to the Rash family.

Mike was responsible for much of the improvements done at Fraser River Heritage Park over the last ten years that the Mission Heritage Association operated the park. Whenever a big machine appeared for park work Mike was the operator, he really enjoyed the projects. We have a lot to thank him for. 

We will all miss you Mike. 

There are so many memories you don’t realize you have until you sit down and really begin thinking. I remember when I was little and I’d pick up the phone when I was having a bad day & dad would come pick me up & we would go get coke slurpees. He was an odd ball and wouldn’t drink his then - he would always have to put it in his freezer & then only once it was frozen solid would he proceed to eat it with a spoon. I remember how he so badly wanted me to be artistic like him. He tried so hard to teach me how to draw but unfortunately I can’t even draw a stick man nicely. I remember being so upset, but dad told me my drawings were beautiful regardless. I remember when he carved a Spyro the dragon pumpkin and totally surprised me. It was so intricate and I brought it to show and tell. No one believed my dad did it without a stencil. But I knew he did - he was amazing and plus my dad didn’t even know how print a stencil. I remember when we spent hours together in his shed working on this little wooden toy race car. We brought it to this race that was held at this church in Mission. The first race I barely got a spot in the final race. Then on the final run, my car won! I felt like I had never seen so much joy on my dads face. He told me I did great and I told him no dad we did great. He was so happy that day. I remember when he built me this rope swing in the backyard and would push me and laugh. He also helped me reach the cherries in that backyard. I remember when I told him I wanted to be a vegetarian and he laughed and said good because I am a meatarian and I hate veggies so you can eat them, we make a great team. When I said I was hungry he would always joke and say “well there is some lovely grass outside”. My dad finally learned to text this past year and the last message he was able to fumble through was “Happy Birthday Paige, I love my daughter. You are half my age!” Which was proceeded by various emojis. Today I wish I could just say I love you too.
