Janet Marie Yankowski

Parents: Benjamin & Virginia Yankowski.

Janet moved to vancouver when she was only sixteen years old, after she had discovered Vancouver with an aunty that she had traveled through the rocky mountains with, of course Janet immediately fell in love with the city, so she returned home and packed her things and left, like the true gyspy she so called herself. Edmonton wasn't good enough for her, Janet wanted bigger & better, she loved to explore.

Soon after she had moved to Vancouver, BC she had met one of her best friends named Kirk that she had become very close with, kirk was one of her very first friends here in vancouver, he had helped Janet settle into vancouver and had been by her side a lot throughout her life journey, participating in all of her children's lives as well

She had various occupations throughout her life, Janet had a crazy, great, spontaneous life, yet a hard one. We went through many ups and downs, yet she always knew how to make the absolute best out of everything. Having to care for children and raise them all on her own as a single mother.

Janet was a strong, independent, hard working woman.

Janet was a mother of three beautiful children, Corey, Sophie & Ema, also a grandmother to 4 others, Lorissa, Benjamin, Isabelle, and Jayde. She filled our lives with so much love, a love that is irreplaceable. She always taught us that family was number one, to always value your family.

Janet loved to travel, to eat good food, & to have amazing experiences. This woman herself taught all of her children to be strong, to be kind, and to never give up.

She has shown us how to breathe when times get rough, to always keep laughing & joking even through the worst of it all. To see the beauty in the smallest things & to truly appreciate everything.

Thank you for your embarrassing grocery store dance moves for when your song came on & giving me great taste in the oldie but goldies tunes, so now when I listen to Tom Jones or Engelbert Humperdinck, I’ll always think of you.

Teaching us to not care about what others think, teaching us to be brave, smart, children with great ambition.

She taught us all many lessons over the years, but the lesson we all learned together was to keep the ones you love close.

We all learned so much from you. As we will continue to keep learning throughout this life journey. As we know you will forever be with us.

Looking back at all of the family dinners & the warm memories of everyone sitting around the table smiling and laughing, we will forever honor that time spent together with you.

You are a light that will forever shine.
