Bill was born on February 3, 1945, and was the son of the late Blake Carriker Brigman and Paul Fletcher Brigman.
Bill lived with his parents on the family farm in Matthews for over forty years where he enjoyed driving the tractor, riding along on farm errands with his father, and eating his mother’s home cooking every day. Bill relocated to Carriker-Williams Road in Union County with his parents in 1986 where he lived until his mother passed in 1995.
Bill’s siblings, Jean Groon, Wayne Brigman, and Sybil Brigman, thereafter served as Bill’s guardian for over twenty-five years, and ensured Bill received loving care into his old age. During this time Steve Uzzell, of Mint Hill, served as Bill’s mentor for over ten years, taking Bill on frequent trips to farmers and livestock markets, the library, and to favorite local restaurants.
Most recently, Bill lived in a home purchased by his siblings near Sybil’s home in Asheville, where he received excellent care from many caregivers, especially Audrey Parton, who has the family’s eternal gratitude.
During his final years, Bill loved going on rides through the country, getting a “drink-ade” from the drive-through, and talking about taking a trip to the beach.
In addition to his siblings, Bill is survived by his sister-in-law Linda Brigman, nephews Robert Grigston, Tim Brigman, and Danny Brigman, and nieces Glenda Homola, Sylvia Berry, Michele Greene, and Kyla Sipprell. Bill was beloved by his family and many caregivers.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 to 12:30pm on Sunday, February 20th, 2022 at McEwen Funeral Service Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd Mint Hill, NC 28227. A service will follow at 12:30pm in the chapel. Bill will be laid to rest beside his parents at Sunset Memory Gardens in Mint Hill.
