She was born on September 6, 1923 in Belmont, NC to the late Ella J. Correll and Edgar Correll, who was killed in the line of duty as a Charlotte Police Detective in 1929.
Mrs. Lee was the definition of a true homemaker. She was a fantastic cook, loved her grandbabies, and adored her husband Bill. She was a good Christian woman who enjoyed family vacations, decorating her home for Christmas and desserts.
Mrs. Lee is survived by her husband of 49 years, William “Bill” Lee; son, Randall B. Knight and stepdaughter, Jean Ann Powers (Alex); two granddaughters, Emily Knight (Jeff Junker) and Casey Knight; two great granddaughters, Kyndall Knight and Everlee Junker.
In addition to her parents, Vera is preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Thomas; three brothers, Jack Correll, J.C. Correll, and Torrence Correll and a stepson, Jack D. Lee.
A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017.
