Lewis F. Carpenter, Jr., of Charlotte, North Carolina, went to his Heavenly home on Sunday morning, December 20, 2020. He was 82 years old. He was the son of the late Lewis F. “Pete” Carpenter, Sr. and Gladys Pearl Carpenter.
Lewis was a faithful member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church and served as a deacon. He was a dedicated servant to the Wednesday night meals, where he will be remembered for serving tea, which he loved. Lewis was also a member of the Friendly Bread Breakers Sunday School Class.
Lewis was the owner of Lewis F. Carpenter Construction Company for 48 years and built hundreds of custom homes with his son. He was dedicated to his family and his church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Elaine; his sister, Libby Carpenter and her husband, Hugh, of Lincolnton; his son, Greg Carpenter and his wife, Erica, of Charlotte; his daughter, Audrey Benton and her husband, Dennis, of Denver, NC; his grandchildren, Robert Benton, Cyndi Sherrill and her husband, Scott, Jacob Carpenter and Andrew Carpenter; and his great-grandchildren, Trevor Hughes, Kasen Sherrill and Parker Sherrill. Mr. Carpenter is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to celebrate Mr. Carpenter’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 7200 East W.T. Harris Boulevard, Charlotte, North Carolina 28215. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.
