Brenda Ferguson Simpson

While others were celebrating the birth of a Savior, Brenda Elaine Ferguson Simpson, 79, was meeting him face to face on December 25, 2021. Having grown up in Monroe, NC, the daughter of the late Hoy and Thelma Ferguson, she was the 4th of 5 children. Brenda is preceded in death by her husband, Oren Douglas Simpson, whom she married in 1964. They settled in Mint Hill, NC where they raised their family. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia (Tim) Long of Charlotte, Christina Simpson Killian of Mint Hill, and Leslee Simpson of Tallahassee, FL; her granddaughters, Meagan, Madison, Sydney, Lyndsey, Bella, and Callee; and great grandchildren, Damien, Judith, and two more on the way in 2022.

First and foremost, Brenda was a dedicated mother and wife, but she offered love, kindness, and support to many friends and family. One way that she showed her love was through baking and cooking. “The Cake Lady” blessed many couples by making their wedding cakes and doing receptions for their big days. Her cakes were works of art as anyone that ever received one would agree.

Brenda was very thoughtful and took great measure to make others feel uniquely special. As a long-time member of Arlington Baptist Church, she served on the fellowship committee of the Dean White Sunday School Class. She took great pride in the duties this job brought, sending cards, and buying gifts for her Sunday school classmates as well as planning their get togethers.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 29, 12:00 – 1:30 pm with the funeral immediately following at 2:00 pm in the Family Life Center of Arlington Baptist Church, 9801 Arlington Church Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227. The family has requested that those attending wear a mask.
