A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon at The River Church in Minong on Monday, November 28. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Ben Kidder will officiate. The burial will be in the Gordon Cemetery.
Richard DeWayne Strohman, age 72, of Gordon, Wisconsin passed away, Thursday, at his home,
surrounded by his family.
Richard was born June 1, 1939 in Gordon, WI to Maurice & Lucille (Strohman) Strohman.
Richard grew up in Gordon. He married IdaMae Silberg Sept. 13, 1958 in Waukegan, IL. They enjoyed
49 years together. She passed away on Dec. 2, 2007. They moved back from Kenosha, WI to
Superior in 1964. He worked for Murphy Oil until his retirement in 1998. He built their family a home in
Gordon, WI, which they returned to. Richard was a hockey coach for more than 10 years. He was very
devoted to his childrens’ athletic events and never missed a game. He was a Cub Scout Leader. Richard
enjoyed, hunting, stock car racing, woodworking, spending time with his family, and “putzing” in the
garage.
Among those who survive and gratefully shared his life are: six children; DeWayne (Betty) of Hohenwald, TN; Darryl of, LA, Rebecca Dos Reis of Minong, Doug (Connie) of Minong, WI, Donald (Terri) Superior, WI, and Rachel Strohman and Jill Manassas, VA, 17 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, one sister, Ruby Beetcher of Superior, WI, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by; his parents, wife, IdaMae, one son, David E. Strohman, one grandson, Richard John, and three siblings, Maurice Strohman, Bea Pearson, and Bernice Strohman.
