Russell "Bud" Dean Miller passed away October 16, 2024. He was days short of 101 years old. Russ was born November 9, 1923 on the East Side of St. Paul and graduated from Johnson High School. He proudly served in the US Navy during WWII and was stationed on the Island of Saipan. Returning from the war he worked as a Dispatcher for the St. Paul Police Department, earned a degree in Journalism from the University of Minnesota, and began a 75-year marriage to Dorothy (Dot).
Russ built a home in the Como Park neighborhood of St. Paul and started a family in 1950. He worked as a Marketing Manager for Brown & Bigelow and then 3M before retiring at the age of 62. He and Dorothy travelled the world when not wintering in Las Vegas for 25+ years. Russ was a warm loving husband, devoted father and passionate grandfather/great-grandfather. He creatively put together Lutefisk Night gifts/stockings for his children/grandchildren and enjoyed his family cabin on Big Sandy Lake, in McGregor MN. He lived his best life every day with no regrets; everyone that met him was drawn in by his infectious kindness and gracious disposition.
The family of Russell D. Miller would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff members of Sunrise of Roseville and Grace Hospice for their excellent care and love, and the Christian ministry of North Heights Lutheran Church. Russell was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years Dorothy (Dot) and is survived by his three children; Jane (Jerry), Bonnie (Joe) and Gary (Barbara), seven grandchildren; Jennifer, Sara, Jeff, James, Peter, Benjamin and Zachary, four great-grandchildren; Victoria, Andrew, Evan and Alex.
A private burial for Russ will be held at Sunset Memorial Cemetery, 2250 St. Anthony Blvd NE, Minneapolis, MN 55418.
