In loving memory of Richard Edward Zempel, who departed this world on December 17, 2023. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jean Zempel, with whom he shared 65 years of love and companionship. Richard leaves behind a legacy carried on by his cherished children, Renee’ (spouse Chris), Brent (spouse Julie), Monica (spouse Todd), and Michelle (spouse Chad) who were the source of his greatest joy and pride.
He will also be remembered fondly by his adoring grandchildren, Jon (spouse Ericka), Myles (spouse Taylor), Gabe, Naomi (spouse Nate), Emily, Sam (spouse Audrey), Noah and father Joseph Chan, Micah, and Zack, and great-grandchildren, Isaac, Nora, and identical twins Jack and Beau, who brought laughter and warmth to his later years.
Richard was a graduate of Wilson High School, St. Paul, MN. He served in the U.S. Navy. Married wife Jean in 1958. In 1964 he graduated from MCAD with a BFA Degree. He retired as a Senior Art Director after 26 years with LDI. Jesus Christ was his personal Lord and Savior and he created marvelous oil paintings for Him. He was active in the CBMC Discipleship program. He served many years doing Parker’s Lake Prison Ministry sharing God’s love and Word with prisoners. Richard spent his life sharing God’s love with everyone.
The family extends their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time. There will only be a private immediate family graveside service at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

May Richard now enjoy dwelling eternally in the house of the Lord while the memories of his love and laughter continue to be a source of comfort to those who cherished him.
