She was a beloved mom, grandma, friend, and servant. Lois always put family and friends first and was never afraid to "show up" and help others in times of need. Lois will always be remembered for her vivacious spirit and her extraordinary ability to infuse any gathering with laughter and joy.
Raised on the farms near Sherburne in southern Minnesota as one of 13 siblings, Lois learned the values of hard work, faith, and frugality from her close-knit family. These values became the cornerstone of her life, shaping her into the extraordinary woman we remember today. Her story took a beautiful turn when she met Harry Mernin, at the Minneapolis Business College. Their love was undeniable, and they began a love story that lasted 60 years of marriage. She and Harry cherished their wide circle of friends, actively participating in community life and faith.
After dedicating herself to raising her six kids for 22 years, Lois embarked on a 20-year career as a food scientist technician at Pillsbury, with a fun fact being her role in creating the beloved Toaster Strudel.
As we bid our farewells, we hold onto the laughter, love, and bright spirit that Lois brought into our lives. She leaves a void that can never be filled but a legacy that will forever inspire us to love deeply and live with unwavering compassion.
Lois is survived by her children: Jaci (Dan Roth), Barry, Heidi, David (Patti Mernin), Paula (Michael Berglund), and Peggy (Terry Zimmer); grandchildren: Noah, Carly, Zach, Brett, Kelsey, Jenna, Charlotte, Mikaela, Angela, Mike, Luke, Sam, Katy, Nick, Max, Ellie, and Mary; great-grandchildren: Josslyn, Hudson, Elizabeth, Anna, Leo, Jax, Milo, Ruby, Isla, Louie, Teddy, Liesel, Emelia, June, and Aaliyah.
