George made people laugh with his witty one liners (“Heck of a deal”). He enjoyed traveling with his late wife Marlene, trap shooting with Charlie and Tuffy, and all things hunting and fishing. He spent many years as a Union Local #1 Bricklayer and could often be found with a camera around his neck. George loved feeding the wildlife in his backyard, Patsy Cline, drives up to the Coon Rapids Dam and the North Shore, adventures in “Big Blue” with the camper on the back and Western movies. George was a proud member of the NRA, Elk River Sportsman’s Club, Crow River Sportsman’s Club, and Outing Gun Club.
Above all, George loved his family. He is preceded in death by the love of his life Marlene, married for 62 years; parents Charles and Evelyn Dapper; and brother Charles Dapper. He is survived by his daughter Stacy (Brian) Christopherson; sisters Carol Burkholder (Brent Hofmann) and Mary (Skip) Shapansky; granddaughters Malia (Caleb) Christel, Madeline (Matt Briggs) Wittman and Makenna Wittman; and nieces and nephews.
George’s presence will be missed however we find comfort in him reuniting with Marlene in heaven. We truly believe she was waiting for him to take the driver’s seat of the RV so that they can begin their next great adventure.
A special heartfelt thank you to J.A. Wedum Hospice for the compassion given to George, our family, and his friends.
