Rev. Dan Hughes passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, from a rare autoimmune blood disorder. Along his journey, he appreciated all those that called, texted, and stopped by to visit. He was surrounded with love from his family, friends, and staff at the hospice facility.
Dan and his beloved wife Bonnie made their home in Champlin, MN, after living for 42 years in Ham Lake, MN. A 1967 graduate of Edina High School, Dan went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in theology from North Central Bible College in 1971.
He dedicated his life to ministry, serving in Des Moines, IA; and in Staples, St Louis Park, Fridley and Coon Rapids, MN. Dan’s love for teaching and music was evident throughout his journey. Even as life took new directions, he remained deeply involved in the churches he and Bonnie were part of; sharing his wisdom from the pulpit, in classrooms, and through worship music at Anoka and Fridley Assembly of God, and North Heights Lutheran.
Outside of ministry, Dan built a successful 30+ year career in the warehouse division of SuperValu, Teamsters Local 120, retiring in 2011.
Dan is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bonnie; son Scott (Suzanne); daughter Rebecca (Mark) Limpert; and his cherished grandchildren Arianda, Morgan, Derek, and Casper. He will also be remembered fondly by many close relatives, friends, and members of the church communities he served.
