Jack Brand (John H. Brand Jr.) died on June 23, 2021 in Carson City, Nevada. Jack was born on December 4, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA, and is preceded in death by his parents, John H. Brand Sr. and Cora M. (Lange) Brand, by his wife of 58 years, Joan A. (Kaufmann) Brand, and by his sister Dorothy (Brand) Koslosky. He is survived by his son John H. Brand III and daughter-in-law Carol S. Brand of Gardnerville, Nevada, and by many loving relatives and friends.
Jack grew up in the Bridesburg section of Philadelphia, graduated from North Catholic High School, and resided in the city of Philadelphia for 60 years. He served in the U.S. Army as an M.P. in Korea from 1952 to 1954, and remained in the Army Reserves until his discharge in 1961. Jack had a long career in the Traffic Management department of Sears Roebuck, followed by his favorite job as a Court Officer for Judge James Fitzgerald in downtown Philadelphia. Jack was an avid sports fan, particularly of Philadelphia Eagles and Notre Dame Football.
Jack and Joan retired to Katy, Texas in 1992 and were members of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Katy for over 20 years where they were among the founding members of the Happy Hearts seniors group. In December 2020, Jack, John, and Carol Brand moved to Gardnerville, Nevada to enjoy the Lake Tahoe area. Jack’s last residence was the Chateau at Gardnerville, a senior assisted living facility. Many thanks to his caretakers at the Chateau and at the Carson Tahoe Rehabilitation Center.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Kirk & Nice Suburban Chapel, 333 West County Line Road in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania on Friday, July 16th at 11 A.M. followed at 11 A.M. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
A viewing will be held on Friday, July 16th from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home.
