Grace Elizabeth (Leonard) Goldman, who arrived on this earthly plane on March 24, 1923, was born in Virden, Illinois to Edith (Moore) and Joseph Michael Leonard. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Minden, NV on July 24th, 2022, at the age of 99.
Grace was always known for her beautiful, vivid blue eyes, her sweet, gentle, kind demeanor, and her love of cats, dogs, and canaries. It was so funny, yet such a logical assumption, that she thought the wild goldfinches we fed in our backyard were wild canaries. She was a unique, sensitive, and special soul loved by all, with a quick wit and a terrific sense of humor, coming up with the most hilarious one-liners… almost up to the end of her earthly existence.
Around 1950, Grace married Irvin “Coxie” Spiegel and the births of their four children, Linda, Carol, Irvin, and Louis, followed in rapid succession. Grace instilled a great love of books, a great love of movies, a great love of animals, and a great love of good food and natural health into her children. We are forever grateful to our mother for her love and her words of wisdom. Her vibrancy and love of life were infectious.
Grace was predeceased by her parents Edith B. and Joseph M. Leonard, siblings Edith, Gladys, Charlie, and Joe, ex-husband (and father of her children) Irvin “Coxie” Spiegel, second husband Irving Goldman, son Irvin John Spiegel, and many other relatives and lifelong friends. It is with great certainty that she is now reunited with all those she loved and those she was loved by who passed on before her.
Grace is survived by two daughters, Linda Uriarte of Minden, NV and Carol Spiegel of Sarasota, FL, one son, Louis Spiegel of Springfield, IL, two granddaughters, one great grandson, one great granddaughter, multiple nieces, nephews, and their descendants. You are loved and missed so much more than mere words can express. Until we are together again, you will forever remain in our hearts and you will always be our Amazing Grace.
