Thomas Abram Murdock

He graduated from the University of Utah in 1966 where he met Janice Christopherson. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on Sept. 9,1965. Following graduation, they returned to the east coast where they raised 5 children in Boston, Massachusetts. Tom loved the excitement of finance and his early career in banking. This led to opportunities in venture capitalism where he enjoyed the thrill of creating and building new companies. Business ventures took him around the world where he was able to share his love of traveling and adventure with his family.

Tom was an avid sports fan always cheering for his hometown Boston sports teams, and was thrilled to see them all win a championship during his lifetime. In 1994 he and Jan returned to Utah, where he renewed his support for the University of Utah, not only as an avid football and basketball fan, but as a gymnastics scholarship sponsor. His greatest enjoyment came from watching and coaching his children and grandchildren on various sports teams. His strong voice of support will never be forgotten.

Tom was always available to help others and enjoyed serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in multiple callings, cherishing his time as the Bishop of the Marlborough and Weston wards, where he watched the church grow from small congregations to multiple stakes. He was always willing to teach a class on any subject, and most recently enjoyed serving in the Salt Lake City Temple for 9 years. His faith and testimony of eternal families has strengthened his family at this time as we all look forward to being together again.

Tom is survived by his wife Janice, children Thomas (Aurora), Michael (Cyndi), Robert (Lauryn), Daniel (Adrianne), Sarah (Scott) Clinger and 18 grandchildren.

A funeral will be held Saturday June 28, at 12:00pm with a viewing from 10-11:30am at the Olympus Cove LDS chapel 4176 Adonis Dr. (3950 East) In lieu of flowers we encourage everyone to spend a day with their family. Messages to the family may be sent to www.holbrookmortuary.com.
