Steven Scott Crawford, 69, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on November 12, 2024. Steve was awaiting heart surgery and a kidney transplant at the time of his death. Steve was born on October 12, 1955 to Barbara Jeane Crawford and James Dale Crawford in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1974, and went on to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Boston and New England areas. Steve married Holly Hughes Crawford on April 30th, 1992. He was employed by the Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District for 37 years and was eagerly anticipating his upcoming retirement in August 2025. Steve was a devoted husband and loving father. He loved his family deeply, especially his dear wife Holly, and was a constant source of love, support, and guidance to each of his children and grandchildren. Steve was incredibly easy-going and always found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was known for his precision and craftsmanship in mechanical and construction projects, both of his own and in assisting others. Steve was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, friend, and neighbor. He was truly selfless, and was always seeking out ways to serve others. Steve was a man of exceptional character and integrity, not fearing life, not fearing death. He was patient with others but demanding of himself, and doing his best was standard operating procedure. Steve had a deep love and appreciation for nature and the outdoors. When he wasn’t working, which wasn’t often enough, he loved getting close to nature, spending time fishing and boating, and going on road trips with his family. He loved God and all of God’s creations, especially his beloved puppies, Lola, Bella, and Chloe. Steve will be fondly remembered for his soft-spoken demeanor, gentle spirit, and tender heart.
Steve is survived by his 95-year-old mother, Barbara Crawford, wife Holly Hughes Crawford, children Kyle Crawford, Cody Crawford, Emily Crawford, and Sarah Hulet (James), grandchildren Jenny Hulet, Hunter Hulet, Henry Hulet, Harvey Hulet, and Oliver Crawford, sister Wendy Groen (David), and brothers Jim Crawford (Jan) and Jeff Crawford (Kimm), as well as many extended family members and friends who were touched by his life.
