Shirley D. Steed passed away 2/15/2016 at 86 years of age in the presence of family. She was born 6/21/1929 in Salt Lake City to Ed Drury and Ruby Fletcher Drury. She attended the University of Utah and excelled in secretarial skills. On 4/4/1951 Shirley was sealed to Ross Richard Steed in the Salt Lake Temple.
Shirley served in many positions as an executive secretary. She was dedicated to the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and served for several years as the chapter treasurer. Shirley used her musical talents to serve the LDS church in various callings. She was the ward organist for many years in various wards from Dallas 3rd Ward, Tustin California Ward, Georgia Ward, and later in the Valley View 5th Ward.
Shirley was a part of a club of women called the “Bonneville Beauties” who met often for lunch dates. These special women were life-long friends from the Bonneville Ward in Salt Lake City.
She is survived by children Sherrie Rose, Linda McGraw, and Lee Steed. Her remaining siblings Richard Drury in Salt Lake City and Eddie Drury in Brookings, Oregon.
She has 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the wonderful hospice team from Brighton Hospice. Thank you to Miriam Beattie DNP who cared for her all these years and Debbie Poulson her hospice nurse.
Viewing will be held on Thursday 2/18/2016 from 6 6-8 PM at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary. Funeral will be Friday 2/19/2016 at 11:00 am with viewing at 10:00-10:45am prior to the services at the Valley View Stake Center 2245 E. 3900 S.
