Sally Johnson, our angel, we were privileged to call Daughter, Mom, Wife, Sister, Aunt and True Friend passed away at age 66. She was born on February 16, 1954, in Salt Lake City to Orrin (Ole) and Jeanne Wells Hansen. She married the love of her life, David (Dave) Johnson in November of 1985 and they spent 35 wonderful married years together in Salt Lake City and Holladay.
Sally attended St. Mary of-the-Wasatch High School and Olympus High School. She later established herself in the graphic arts industry owning and managing a printing and graphic design business in Ivy Place Plaza, later becoming an independent graphic artist working from her home office. She’s known for designing and creating beautiful newsletters and menus for some of the most renowned local country clubs and successfully acquired a steady clientele for a variety of other printing services. Everything Sally touched had an artistic flare. As an avid reader herself, some of her most rewarding recent years were those working as the Woodrow Wilson Elementary Media Specialist where she shared a passion for reading to children.
Sally took great pride in the Montana and Colorado family ranches. She loved to visit them, painting and drawing masterpieces. Some of her most treasured travel adventures were those to Bear Lake, Southern Utah and California - regularly visiting her loving daughter, Illa, in Carlsbad.
In her youth, Sally was a highly skilled ice skater, skier and swimmer. She was always a lover of caregiving, good books, a fine dine out, fairies, folklore, dolls, fine jewelry, moo-moos, cats and the magic of Christmas. She never missed a birthday or anniversary of any relative or friend, even if it meant a cemetery visit to those who passed before her. Sally was a fabulous cook and will be remembered for her sense of humor, garden harvests, family dinners, holiday gatherings and a decorated home.
Family was always the forefront of Sally’s life and nothing brought her more joy than her children, grandchildren and great grandchild.
Sally is survived by her husband, Dave; brother, Wally Hansen; sister, Rosie Mitchell (Rodger); half sibling, Lauri Hansen; children, Terry Cumberledge (Dawn); daughter, Illa Johnson; son, Chase Johnson; grandchildren, Jaymen Cumberledge and Jaycee Cumberledge; one great granddaughter, Angelina; her cat, Oliver and many nieces and nephews - all of whom she loved and cared for deeply. She was preceded in death by both parents; brother, Geoff Hansen (Gretta); half-sister, Jane Bryan (Steve); and half-brother Mike Hansen (Carolyn).
The family extends honorable gratitude to Illa and Chase Johnson for the endless hours of home care given to their mother while she fought her long battle with blood cancer.
