Robert (Bob)Luty Campbell, age 69, passed away on June 17, 2017. Bob was born June 18, 1947 in Abington, PA to Robert G. Campbell and Ruth Luty Campbell. Bob was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife and the love of his life for 42 years, Gwen D. Campbell, his daughter, Jessica Vidal and Son-in-Law, Ken Vidal, his son, Andrew Robert Campbell and Daughter-in-Law, Robyn Raming Campbell, and the lights of his life, his grandchildren, Addyson Ruth Vidal – his beautiful kumquat-, Collin Kenneth Vidal, Oliver Robert Campbell and Jonah Charles Campbell.
Bob graduated from Abington High School in Abington, PA, Franklin & Marshall College, where he was a political science major and attended Oklahoma City University School of Law where he was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award for Criminal Law and the University of Connecticut School of Law.
Bob loved being around his family, talking politics with anyone and everyone, whether they agreed with him or not, or wanted to listen…or not. He was a staunch supporter of the environment and a passionate Zionist. He loved to play golf, the Philadelphia Eagles, but was an especially dedicated fan of the University of Connecticut women’s basketball team, the Huskies. One of the happiest and most rewarding times of his life was spent coaching his daughter’s Little Miss softball team, the Tigers. A feminist, Bob hated that they were called “Little Miss” instead of “Little League”. He saw potential in every player and by their second season they won the first of five consecutive championships.
Before fighting and winning the battle against cancer, Bob would spend hours at the gym and researched fitness techniques and supplements long before it was fashionable. His son-in-law joked that Bob was the only guy he knew who would go on a cruise and lose weight because he saw it as an opportunity to spend time in spin class and lift weights.
Bob made friends with everyone wherever he went. He will be missed.
In lieu of flowers Bob would want donations made to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) @ www.AIPAC.org, Utah Open Lands @ www.UtahOpenLands.org, or the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
Memorial Service to be held at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Thursday June 22, 2017 at 2:00PM. The Family will receive visitors at the home of Gwen Campbell on Thursday from 4-8 pm, Friday 2-4pm and Sunday 2-4pm at 8242 Wayside Circle, Sandy, Utah.
