Robert Sheldon Brewster, our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2018. After a life well-lived, he was looking forward to a glorious reunion with loved ones he longed to see. A son of Sheldon Riser Brewster and Edna Leone Karren Brewster, he was born in Salt Lake City on October 2,1923.
The eldest of four children, his parents cultured a love of learning and sense of adventure and fun. Some of his earliest memories were living at Lagoon and riding the carousel for hours. Proud of both his Pilgrim and Pioneer heritage, he had a love of history and genealogy which he instilled in his family through stories and travels throughout the world. He graduated from South High, attended Georgetown University, and graduated cum laude from the University of Utah. Receiving his degree in engineering, he spent the bulk of his career working for the Bureau of Reclamation.
A member of the Greatest Generation, he proudly served his country during World War II, spending much of his time on the European front. He married his sweetheart, Juanita LaMar Tucker, June 21, 1949 and they were blessed with 3 children. He lovingly cared for her as she battled cancer, and she preceded him in death in 1986.
Most men are lucky to have one good marriage, but Bob had two great loves in his life. He married Donna Irene Mulcock August 4, 1988. Their marriage brought 5 children and many grandchildren into the family. They were able to travel, serve on temple square and as a highlight to Bob's life, serve a mission in Egypt. He lovingly cared for her as she battled Alzheimer's and she passed away in 2016.
Always courteous and an implicit gentleman, Bob loved music, dancing, skiing, tennis and golf. He was an avid reader, traveler, knowledgeable on current events and loved dessert. He was constantly learning, studying the gospel and Hebrew in his later years. He was kind, happy, and had an infectious smile. His happiest times were spent visiting family and friends. He loved the Lord and served in many capacities including bishop, temple worker and stake callings. He especially enjoyed working with the youth of the church and was lovingly referred to as "Bish Bob". The gospel of Jesus Christ was the mainstay of his life. He loved his family and his all-wise Father in Heaven and acknowledged His guidance throughout his life. He was a tremendous example of a good, honorable man.
Bob is survived by his daughter Susan Lambson (Craig), son Clark Brewster, daughter-in-law Wendy Brewster (Steve), and 3 dearly loved step-daughters Annette Curtis (Rick), Cindy Buie (Randy), Susie Howard (Rock), 23 Grand children and 40 Great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, sisters Joyce Lundeberg, Nadine Burnett (Chick), brother Blair Brewster, son Steven Brewster, step-son Ray Rasmussen, grandson Matt Buie and two infant granddaughters, Rachel and Rebecca Curtis.
