Richard J. Galbraith of Sandy, Utah passed away peacefully on January 13, 2023, he was 92 years old. Dick was born February 17, 1930, in Ogden, Utah to Eva Irene Nielson and Elmer J. Galbraith. Dick was the second of two children. Dick spent his childhood in Ogden and Salt Lake City. While in High School his family moved to Richland, WA. Dick loved sports and played for his high school baseball team. In June of 1954 Dick graduated from Brigham Young University. After graduation, Dick served in the United States Army Peace Keeping Force in Germany, 1954-1956.
Dick and Sondra met in 1957 and in short order fell in love and were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. During the early years of marriage Dick was an insurance salesman for New York Life. Later, Dick started an insurance consulting company with his business partner Mel Green which kept him occupied until he retired. Dick was also very active in the community and served on several non-profit boards in Salt Lake City and Provo, Utah.
Dick was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He spent a lifetime serving others in various callings over the years including a full-time mission in 1950-1952 to the Great Lakes Mission.
Sondra and Dick have 5 children: Scott (Glory), Mark (Syd), Kristen (Marv), David (Kami), and Johnny, 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his mother and father Eva and Elmer, sister Betty, grandson Jesse, son Johnny, granddaughter Rachel, and many dear friends.
There will be a funeral and viewing at the LDS Chapel located 2130 E. 10000 S. Sandy, Utah. The viewing will be Friday evening, January 20, 2023, from 6:00-7:30 and a viewing prior to the funeral service from 9:00-9:45 am. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 10:00am. The funeral will be streamed for those unable to attend if you would like to visit www.facebook.com/wasatchlawnmemorial about 5 minutes before the start of the service.
Our family desires to express our deep appreciation to so many who have shown love and support to our family. We are grateful for dear friends and neighbors who have touched Dick and Sondra’s life in countless ways over the years.
