Norma Esther Frederickson Christensen, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, and sister was born February 22, 1923, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She died peacefully during the early morning hours on Tuesday, August 29, at the age of 94. She was the daughter of Thomas Albert and Amy Rozella Braithwaite Frederickson. Graduated from East High School. She worked many years as an executive secretary.
She married Joseph Knowles Piercey, Jr., in 1945. Divorced. Married Eugene Ruben “Chris” Christensen in 1958. She is survived by her children Dee Ann Swinyard (Richard), Cindy Sue Christensen, and David Wade Christensen (Melanie), 5 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren; step children – Noma Jo Bailey and George Christensen. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings Richard Lynn Frederickson, Harold Frederickson, and Sidonia (Pat) Baxter.
Norma was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary. She was particularly faithful in her calling as a Visiting Teacher. She served with love and dedication, making each sister a friend. She loved little children and never failed to have a riddle or joke to tell them. Sports were a major part of her life. She played for the Shamrock softball team, excelled at tennis, and enjoyed bowling. She could be found at her aerobics class into her 80’s.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 2, at 2:00 pm, with a viewing one hour prior at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. The family expresses deep appreciation to Cheryl and Cynthia of Intermountain Hospice for their kind and loving care.
