Marilyn Lucille Chorn, 86, was born December 22, 1935, to Merrell and Edna Chorn in Salt Lake City. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her children and her caregiver Ibrahim at her side on October 28, 2022, in Salt Lake City.
Marilyn grew up in Salt Lake City attending Granite High School where she met her sweetheart Edward Allen Jones. They married August 5, 1953, in Salt Lake City and raised five children. She later married John Green in December 1985.
Marilyn was born to be a mother, she worked tirelessly cooking and cleaning while always having fun raising her family. She was known for her red lipstick and great sense of humor making people laugh. Raising her children, spending time with her grandchildren and family time brought her the most joy especially attending grandchildren’s events, trips to Lake Powell, Sunday dinners and family trips with Jack & Judy Jones family. Aunt Marilyn adored her nieces and nephews – Jayne, Jon, Julie, Jennifer, Justin, Jordan, and Becca. Marilyn had many hobbies throughout her life – gardening, skiing, watching the Utah Jazz, cooking, and canning. Her love for gardening and flowers were evident in her beautiful yard.
Marilyn was a great example for treating others with kindness and she practiced selflessness, her love and kindness could fill a room. She touched many lives by taking care of others. We have many wonderful memories of laughing with our mom, eating her tasty food, and being the recipient of her unconditional love. Her beautiful smile will live in our hearts forever.
In addition to her children, daughter Christine Jones, son Edward W Jones (Lisa), daughter Diane J Bath (Robert), son Kerry M Jones (Tammy), Daughter-in-law Catherine Garifi, she is survived by grandchildren Brooke (Karen), Ricky, Cody, Topher, Baily, Ashley, Delaney, & Emily; great grandchildren Logan, & Tyler; and many others who will miss her.
She was preceded in death by son Richard Allen Jones, Parents, brother Larry Chorn, husband Edward A Jones, and husband John Green.
Marilyn spent the last 8 months of her life at Twin Oaks entertaining the staff and other residents, she brought a lot of laughter and joy to all around her. The family would like to especially thank Ibrahim and his team for the loving care they provided daily. Additionally, we would like to thank Mary with First Choice Hospice who provided excellent care for our mom.
