Marian Smith Cunningham age 91 passed away from this life in Bountiful, Utah on February 19, 2022. Mary was born on July 16, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joseph and Lillian Smith. She married her sweetheart, Dale Cunningham on June 27, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Mary grew up in Salt Lake City where she met and fell in love with her darling husband Dale of 72 years. During their time together they were busy raising their children while they actively engaged in their religion, traveled and enjoyed camping in their motor home. Mary loved to entertain; she was lovingly referred to as the Party Maker. Family, friends and her Dinner Club enjoyed being at Mary’s home with her many holiday decorations, games and food. Every holiday and birthday were a great reason to get together. Family meant the world to her as she gained lifelong friendships through her dinner clubs, wards and schools.
One of Mary’s greatest joys was Sister Day. Every Thursday she spent with her two sisters and as time went on their husbands were allowed to enjoy the fun day with them. Sister Day was very important to all of them and was never missed. Sister Day was enjoyed for 70 years until COVID arrived and changed getting together for all of us.
Mary and Dale served an LDS mission in Salt Lake City as well as volunteering at the Conference Center for 16 years. Mary was a talented seamstress creating many, many Boy Scout neckerchiefs, Eagle Scout and mothers scarfs as well as temple aprons.
She is survived by her adoring husband, Dale; children, Kristine, Dianne, Jeanie and Smith (Holly); nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is preceded in death by two brothers; one sister and one granddaughter, Angie.
