Larry Dee Griffiths, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on May 25, 2019 at the age of 82. Larry was born in Castle Gate Utah to David John and Virginia Lucille Griffiths. He married Carolynn (Kelly) Clements on August 8, 1969; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He graduated from South High School in 1955 and attended the University of Utah. He served an LDS mission in the East Central States Mission. Larry served his Country in the Utah National Guard and spent a career working for the LDS church, retiring in 2002. He served as a Bishop and Stake High Council member for the LDS Church. Larry and Kelly both enjoyed music and sang together in the Salt Lake Symphonic Choir. Even later in life Larry found great pleasure in music, singing along as loud as he could with the musicians that would visit the home where he lived. Larry was generous with those less fortunate than him, always taking opportunities to give back. He was an avid supporter of his Running Utes, often he could be found sporting U of U colors and clothing; if you were going to hang out with Larry you better know the U of U fight song. He is survived by his son, Todd Griffiths (Eden); daughter, Michelle Petersen (Roger); daughter, Debbie Gines (VerNaun); brother, Bud Griffiths (Lucy); seven grandchildren, Brandon, Addison, Lauren, Zack, Justin, Landon, and Nicole. Nine great-grandchildren, Jude, Esther, Blakely, Andrew, Ian, Aiden, Lincoln, Jackson, and Kennedy. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Kelly. Funeral services will be held on June 6, 2019 at 12:00 noon, in the LDS Chapel 14172 S. Emmeline Dr, Herriman Utah. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Emmeline Chapel.
