Gail G. Brown, Jr. passed away March 28, 2023 in Salt Lake City, Utah due to complications from a fall. Gail (Rusty) was born November 28, 1942 to Gail G. Brown, Sr. and Mary Ann Carter Brown in Salt Lake City, Utah. Gail was the second of four children and the only son. He loved and remained close to his three sisters Judy (Larry) Volk, Cori (deceased) (Mike) Oakden and Robyn Jensen.
Nicknamed Rusty as a kid because of his striking red hair, Gail was a funny and energetic boy.
Gail attended Highland High School but his love of skiing, especially during school hours, brought about a change of scenery as his parents enrolled him at St Marks where he graduated in 1961.
He attended college in Walla Walla, Washington and graduated from the University of Utah in 1968.
The first time Gail saw Connie, she was wearing her white wool dress and he commented “I thought you looked like an angel”. Gail married Constance (Connie) Parsons on March 21, 1966 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Together, Gail and Connie raised six children, Rachel (Kelly) Clark, Matthew (Theresa) Brown, Christopher (Laura) Brown, Rebecca (Samuel) Seaman, Michael (Lisa) Brown and Sara (Arne) Carter. They have been blessed with twenty four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Gail worked for a respected financial firm for twenty five years where he made lifelong friends. He loved interacting with his clients and enjoyed helping them reach their financial goals.
Never afraid to try new things, Gail started running at age 50 and competed in the Moab Half Marathon for many years. His commitment to running allowed him to complete the St. George Marathon at age 60. He never lost his sense of adventure and most recently rafted through Big Kahuna and Lunch Counter on the Snake River at age 79 with his family.
Gail was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in numerous callings in the Rose Park 4th Ward. He loved his ward family and attended his church meetings regularly.
Gail’s sense of humor and memorable smile captured Connie’s heart. They loved being together, sharing little stories, jokes, and phrases they collected over the years. One of his last days was spent buying flowers, gifts and dinner to celebrate his 57th wedding anniversary with his sweetheart.
Family is paramount in Gail and Connie’s lives. They love spending time with each of their grandchildren and celebrating their achievements but are most proud of their kind hearts.
