1950-2017
Francine Ruth Alvey Quinn Staker passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 25, 2017. Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend was born February 24, 1950, in Tooele, Utah to Raymond F. and Marjorie Clark Alvey. She was raised in Salt Lake City.
Mom married Rick Quinn on August 14, 1973. They had four children: Sarah (Mikel) Monsen, Victoria, Harrison and Jared Quinn. She remarried Alan Chandler and later Val Staker.
Francine received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Utah in Education. Her passion was teaching gifted and talented children. Mom defined her life helping those less fortunate. Her unconditional love, talents and abilities lifted up souls that crossed her path.
Mom was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. Francine had a beautiful voice, enjoyed cooking, cherished playing the piano and riding her horse, Sarabou. In 1982 Francine was named Mrs. Utah and voted Mrs. Congeniality while competing at the national competition in Las Vegas.
Francine is survived by her children; her parents; two grandchildren: Kiera and Kai Monsen; and five siblings; Clark (Nan), Bert (Shelly), Marjorie Rae (Robert) Deeds, Rob (Jean), and David (Angela). She is preceded in death by her brother, John Alvey.
A viewing will be held on Friday February 3rd from 9:30-10:30am at the Foothill 6th Ward 2200 East Roosevelt Avenue, Salt Lake City prior to the funeral at 11:00am. Interment at Wasatch Lawn.
