I was married in the LDS Temple in 1945 at the tender age of 21. Vern was just about finished with his military service and I was busy working on my degree in Education. We soon had three wonderful children, Clinton Ross Call (Janet), Marc Lawrence Call (Jan) and Denise Landvatter (Kent). The result was nine amazing grandchildren and if you’re lucking enough to be 92 you may be blessed with nine great grandchildren as I was.
Backing up a little bit please. I was telling you about my education, which resulted with a degree in Education from the U of U and a little later my Masters Degree through classes at the U of U as well. I taught elementary school at Lincoln, Indian Hills and finished my 30-year teaching career at Whittier Elementary. After a lifetime of teaching children about the world I now had the opportunity to visit the places of my teaching. I visited cousins Rosslyn and Neil Sturman in England numerous times. I traveled to France, Germany Italy, Russia, China and India. In the last few years I took a voyage around the Cape of Good Hope and made many trips to the Shakespeare Festivals.
I volunteered at the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for 35 years. I was a proud docent for the Utah Museum of Fine Arts for 25 years. Being a docent proved to be such a wealth of friendship and learning, I just loved it.
I am survived by my three children and their spouses as well as my brother Lawry and his amazing wife Marilyn. My husband Vern precedes me in death.
In closing I would just like to say to my students, “Obstacles are those things you see when you take your eyes off the goal”
Love ya more, Elaine
