Donald Eugene Stauffer passed away peacefully Dec 28, 2017, at home in Bountiful Utah of causes incident to age. Don was born Feb 5, 1926 to Eugene Leroy Stauffer and Ruby Lavern Mauss. Hailing from Murray and graduating from South High School, Don spent his life in Utah. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, and upon return, began a career working for the phone company, Mountain Bell. It was there he met LaRue Thomas, the love of his life (they recently celebrated 66 years together). Don was an entrepreneur and owned several investment properties. He loved all sports, but mostly the Utah Jazz (even working as an usher at the old Salt Palace). He enjoyed many hobbies and talents. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed writing poems. Although not a carpenter, Don built the family cabin in Alpine Acres where he loved to hunt, fish, and sit on his porch with LaRue in the Uintah Mountains. Don is preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, son Randy, and son-in-law William Jefferies. He is survived by his wife, LaRue, four children Becki Jefferies, Julie Overfelt (Jerry), Gene Stauffer (Beverly), Steven Stauffer, many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and his faithful dog Sasha. Funeral Services will be January 4, 2017 at 2:00 at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, followed by graveside services. A viewing at that location will be held January 3, 2017 from 6-8 PM and January 4, 2017 at 1:00 PM.
