Cheri Diane Stuard Rose passed away peacefully at home with her family in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 14, 2024. Born in Salt Lake, Cheri grew up in the Holladay area with her two sisters. She was known for her intelligence and creativity and through a lifetime of hard work, realized many successes.
Cheri's love for learning was evident early on. She excelled in school and graduated from Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy of La Cañada, California in 1958. Fluent in French, Cheri’s passion for language and culture complemented a dynamic social life during her school years. As a teenager she traveled abroad with her family visiting much of Europe, arming her with a sophistication rare for the times.
Cheri was an artist at heart. An accomplished ballerina, she twirled through life with grace and enthusiasm. Her love for the arts wasn't limited to the stage—she was an entrepreneur and successful business woman in the fashion industry. Cheri founded a modeling agency as a young woman and soon after, her own clothing store "Image by Cheri”. At a time when women's roles were often limited, her store became a great success. Cheri had a loyal, far-reaching clientele who depended on her for guidance on dressing for any occasion.
It was through her thriving boutique that Cheri met her beloved husband, Robert Allen Rose. United by a shared passion for fashion and style, they married on September 3, 1966. Together, they raised two wonderful children, John Bradford and Staci Diane, and through marriage, Cheri embraced five stepchildren, enriching her family life even further.
Cheri was also known for her impeccable home and garden. She was naturally attuned to home decor and handled household repairs with the same creativity she brought to her businesses. Later in life, she became a real estate agent, again seeing great success. Her community contributions included organizing fashion shows for prestigious groups and volunteering for University of Utah Sororities. She ultimately became a well-regarded figure in many circles.
Cheri is preceded in death by her parents, Orville Thomas Stuard and Leona Lamae Connary, her sisters Carol Dee Stuard and Nancy Lee Stuard, her husband Robert Allen, her son John Bradford "J.B." and her daughter Staci Diane Mather. She leaves behind five stepchildren—Debbra Ann Ralston (Charlie), Elise Orth Walton (Kenny), Kelley Jean Buxton (D. Gregg), Robert Douglas (Michele), and David Allen (Chris)—and an extended family touched by her love and kindness.
To honor Cheri's remarkable life, family and friends will gather at a private celebration of life event. Following the celebration, Cheri will be laid to rest at Wasatch Lawn in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her spirit of adventure, artistic flair, and boundless energy will forever be cherished by those fortunate enough to have known her.
