1964-2021
On Feb 26, 2021, at her home in Kearns, UT, Becky Lorraine Porter Kimball, 56, was mercifully called back to her heavenly home after a valiant six-year struggle with Breast Cancer. She carried on with courage and optimism throughout her journey.
Becky was born in Provo, Utah on December 15, 1964, the third of eight children born to Sherron Harold and Cynthia Mae Bishop Porter. As a child, she was a pure and lovely child with blonde hair, blue eyes, and a loving disposition.
Becky married her long-time special friend, Joseph Kimball, in the Provo Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Mar 17, 1990. They lived in Ogden, Salt Lake City, and in Kearns, UT. Becky loved her family, her home, and her many friends.
Becky was educated in the Provo City School System and obtained a B.S. degree in 1989 from Brigham Young University in Early Childhood Education. In 2018, she earned a M.A. degree in Educational Studies from The University of Phoenix, while she was fighting cancer.
She learned to play the violin in Junior High School and played in the Timpview High School Orchestra and in the Portland Maine Community Orchestra while living there with her parents for a short time after graduating from college. She also played for several family, community, and church events.
She enjoyed crafts and sewing and created many beautiful projects for her family and friends. She had the gift of knowing when someone was hurting, and she was quick to respond. Her family and friends recognize and appreciate her caring and kind spirit. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings before and after her marriage.
Becky is survived by: her husband, Joseph Ellsworth Kimball, her two children, Eilonwy Marie Kimball and Joseph Paul Kimball; her parents, Sherron H. and Cynthia Bishop Porter; four sisters, who are Sonja Rae Thompson (Brent), Patricia Lyn Slade (Barrett), Susan Kaye Bates (George), Cheryl Ann Stirling (Robert); three brothers, who are E. Wayne Porter (Sandie), Benton H. Porter, and David S. Porter (Kimberly); and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family expresses their gratitude and appreciation to those who have so graciously helped Becky through these long years, especially the doctors, nurses, and other health care and hospice staff, as well as neighbors and friends who have brought in meals and who have taken time to visit. We also recognize and appreciate Joseph’s kind and loving support to Becky, and also Eilonwy and Paul Kimball, who have devoted themselves to their mother’s needs, providing transportation and the many household duties required during their mother’s long illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday March 13, 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 5927 S Park Wood Dr, Kearns, UT.
