Barbara Lattin

With patience and humility, Barbara Lattin suffered the effects of a rare degenerative neurological disease for 7 years. She faithfully endured until August 5th, and from her home, she peacefully returned to her Father in Heaven. Barbara became the second of three daughters of Lynn F. Margetts, and Blanche Anderson Margetts on Oct. 10, 1943, in SLC. She attended Highland High School, the University of Utah, and was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. While attending the U, she met her sweetheart, David M. Lattin. On June 17th, 1965, they were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. This year they were fortunate to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Dave’s employment sent the young couple to live in Texas, Michigan, Virginia, and Tennessee. During that time they were blessed with four beautiful sons before moving back to Utah. Barbara loves being a mother and adores her sons. She feels that same love for each of her daughters-in-law, and treats them as her own. Her greatest joy was being a grandma to her 12 amazing grandchildren. Barbara’s faithful spirit, courageous heart, and never-ending positive attitude, have deeply influenced the lives of her family, friends, and all those who knew her. Barbara was committed to her role as mother and homemaker and approached each task with precision and care. Barbara enjoyed her cooking, and lovingly prepared countless meals, not only for her family, but for all who entered her home, and especially for those in need. Barbara loves and lived the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was a steadfast member of the LDS Church. She lived in a way that reflected the pure love of Christ in all that she did and said. She served her Heavenly Father through her callings in Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary while always supporting Dave in his callings. Barbara loved without condition, served without guile, and will forever be an example of tenderness and love to all who had the privilege to know her.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, and two infant grandsons. She is survived by her husband, David, sons David Jr. (Tracy), Daniel (Amy), Thomas (Leesha), Matthew (Melanie), 12 grandchildren and sisters Carolyn Wallace (Robert) and Christy Ann Latta (Nile).

Funeral services will be held in the LDS Chapel at 1361 E 4000 S on Saturday August 15th, at 12:00p.m. Viewing will be held at that chapel on Friday August 14th from 6-8p.m. and from 10:00a.m. to 11:45a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be held at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery (3401 S Highland Drive). In lieu of flowers it’s recommended that any donations be made to the CurePSP/CBD at 30 E.
