She was born October 2, 1926 to Forrest Dale Norberg and Vera Lenore Edmunds. She was the oldest of four children, Jeanne, Charles and JoLynn.
She attended Forest School, Irving Jr. High, South High and the University of Utah. Education was very important to her and she passed that along to her family. She often spoke of growing up in her Grandmother’s house on 2100 South in Sugarhouse with many other family members. She considered growing up in Sugarhouse to be a blessing. She also spent time on her Grandfather’s farm in Bennion, Utah. The depression years made an impact on those who lived through them.
She and Jesse Neal Davis grew up in the same ward and began dating just prior to him reporting to the Army Air Corps. They danced at the Rainbow Rendezvous the night before he left. After he returned from the war, he accepted a call to the Northern States mission and proposed to Audrey the night before he left. They were married April 27, 1949 and welcomed four rambunctious boys to their family.
Audrey worked for LDS hospital in the nursery as a nurse’s aide, a job she loved. She went to work for Bell Telephone and was forced to retire when she became pregnant. She helped Jess with his schooling and worked at the University of Utah after her boys were grown to be able to support them on their missions.
She was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many positions including the Stake Primary and as a Bishop’s wife. She was proud of her membership in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Daughters of the American Revolution and as a member of the Mayflower Society, certified, documented and traced back to her relationship with John Howland, a Pilgrim aboard the Mayflower. She loved family history and enjoyed taking photographs. She was always happy and fun to be around. She loved people and whenever she talked about someone you didn’t know, she always said, “Oh, you would love them!”
She was blessed with four children, Steve (Cathy), Greg (Kellie), Jon (Anna), and Kirk (deceased) (Alana). She is survived by her sister JoLynn Wilson, three of her sons and their wives and twelve grandchildren Matt (Holly), Libby, Chris (Amanda), Josh (Dawn), Zaque (Amy), Laura (Dave Hansen), Jonathan (Lydia), Daniel (Chyann), Michael, Jessica, Hayden (Tori) and Hailey (Matt Frederickson). She is also survived by 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Jess, her parents, her sister Jeanne, her brother Charles as well as her son, Kirk.
Our love and appreciation go out to her devoted ward members and the staff at Crescent Senior Living in Sandy, UT. You are the “angels among us.”
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 12:00 noon, with a visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. The funeral will be held at the Cottonwood Third Ward, 6301 South 2300 East. Internment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
The Watcher
By Margaret Widdemer
She always leaned to watch for us,
Anxious if we were late,
In winter, by the window,
In summer, by the gate.
And though we mocked her tenderly
Who had such thoughtful care,
The long way home seemed much more safe,
Because she waited there.
Her thoughts were always full of us,
She never could forget!
And so I think that where she is
She must be watching yet.
Waiting ‘til we come home to her,
Anxious if we are late.
Watching from Heaven’s window,
Leaning on Heaven’s gate.
