Margaret Alyce Heaton Parsons, 89, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 in Salt Lake City. She was born September 8, 1924 in Moccasin, Arizona to Charles Carroll Heaton and Margaret Cox Heaton. She attended Dixie College in St. George, Utah.
She married Russell J. Parsons on January 12, 1946 in Moccasin, Arizona. They were later sealed in the St. George Temple on January 13, 1948.
Alyce loved nature and the outdoors and nurtured this love as a prolific gardener; hosting numerous family events, weddings and celebrations in her beautifully landscaped backyard.
She enjoyed a 25 year career with First Security Bank, was a faithful member of the LDS Church and devoted her life to supporting her family and friends. She was the happiest being in the service of others.
Alyce lived her life always thinking and speaking kindly of others. Her kindness was only matched by her selflessness and generosity.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years Russell J. Parsons, son Charles (Mari) Parsons, Salt Lake City, daughter Margaret Parsons Gladwin (Dennis), Anchorage, AK and cherished sister LaVina (Vard) Meeks, Kanab, UT. She is also survived by her granddaughter Rita Monique Parsons, Salt Lake City and great grandson Cody James Parsons, Salt Lake City.
She was predeceased by her parents, five brothers Leonard, Clifford, Richard, Grant and Kelly Heaton, three sisters Jenny Brown, Kay Hood, and Grace Judd and beloved son Russell J. Parsons II.
Viewing will be at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary on Monday July 14 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A graveside memorial service will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park on Tuesday July 15 at 11:00am.
The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the medical professionals & staff of St. Mark’s Hospital, Highland Care Center & CareSource Hospice for the extended care provided to Alyce in her final days.
