Virginia (Ginny) Everleigh Ashley passed away peacefully in Midlothian, Virginia surrounded by her devoted family on Wednesday, May 13, 2020. Born in Lumberton, North Carolina the daughter of the late Carl Everleigh Sr. and Elizabeth McGugan Everleigh on August 29, 1931. She was preceded by her loving husband George Ashley, her brothers Donald Everleigh, Mary Elizabeth Apple, Doris Everleigh Taylor, Sara Everleigh Carrowon, Robert Everleigh and Carl Andrew Everleigh Jr. She grew up in her hometown of Lumberton, North Carolina and after marrying resided in Fairfax, Virginia. She and her husband George were avid boaters and longtime active members of White Point Yacht Club in Kinsale, Va. Retiring to Williamsburg, Virginia they spent their leisure time on the water, traveling and taking long walks together around Colonial Williamsburg. She enjoyed golf, bridge, the beach, and spending time with her family. She was loved by all that knew her. She is survived by her beloved children Stephania Anne Ashley (Patrick) Courtney, Frank Keith (Lori) Ashley, Jill Coleman Ashley (Ted) Gailey, William Foster (Holly) Ashley, and grandmother to Kimberly, Justin and Christopher Courtney, Timothy, Nathan and Travis Ashley, Jennifer Smith, Joseph Breslin, Jane Hand and Foster, Parker, Savannah Ashley, and 14 great-grandchildren. Virginia will be laid to rest at Williamsburg Memorial Park in a private family service. A celebration of her life will be scheduled for a later date at Bon Air Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations in Virginia’s honor to Bon Air Baptist Church, 2531 Buford Rd., Richmond, VA, of which she was a devoted member.
